The Regensburg City Library is open to all citizens of the city and the region. Here you will find information about lending, fees and terms of use.
To utilize the services of the Regensburg City Library, a valid library card is required. Please complete the form thoroughly, providing all necessary information for the creation of your library card.
You can collect your library card on the next opening day at the counter of any of your locations. Please check the opening times in advance. Remember to bring an official photo ID with proof of address for verification, and if applicable, any documentation for a discount.
For partner library cards, please include the ID partner's details in the designated fields. These fields will appear after selecting the corresponding library card fee.
For minors (under 18), the details of a legal guardian must be provided in the relevant fields. These fields will appear after selecting the appropriate library card fee. A parent or legal guardian must sign a consent declaration when picking up the library card on site.

Caution: Registration for a library card is binding and requires in-person collection. Please transfer the fee amount or pay it at the circulation desk.

With your library card, you can borrow items from all district libraries during their opening hours. Our digital library is available 24/7.
Borrowing Limits:
- Adult Library Card: Borrow up to 30 items simultaneously.
- Children's Library Card: Borrow up to 20 items simultaneously.
Loan Periods:
- Standard Items: 28 days
- Magazines and DVDs: 7 days
The loan period for individual items can be extended twice for the same duration unless:
- The item is reserved by another customer.
- The maximum number of extensions has been reached.
- Your library card has expired.
- Outstanding fees on the library card exceed 20 euros.
How to Renew Your Items:
- Online: Use the "My Account" / "Mein Konto" function in the online catalog (OPAC).
- By Phone: Call 0941/507 2470.
- In Person: Visit one of our libraries.
