World Heritage Map

The best way to get to know the World Heritage Site of Regensburg is to do it on foot. The walk proposed in the "World Heritage Map" takes you through the Old Town and through Stadtamhof in equal measure.

The theme-map “UNESCO-Welterbe Altstadt Regensburg mit Stadtamhof” [UNESCO World Heritage Site Regensburg with Stadtamhof] invites you to explore the town on the spot and to find out more about its complex past. For that reason we have compiled a selection of background information and little stories. You can find on the town map all the buildings and places mentioned, and sort them out easily and quickly by means of their colours.

Heritage Tour

Thereby not only the most important sights but also concrete examples of the criteria which are crucial for Regensburg’s “World Heritage Site eligibility” are presented. You could start off at the bus terminal in Stadtamhof; the route then takes you over the Stone Bridge into the centre of the Old Town and ends up in the World Information Centre. You can expect this tour to take two to three hours, depending on how long you spend at each of the stopping-points. Incidentally: this walk also has its own guided tour.
